Dave Rea - Bass Guitar

I started playing about 1972 and have always played either blues or blues based rock music.

My main bass is a 4 string Fender Jazz which I have had for a few years now, I also have a 5 string Yamaha TRBII bass which I would like the time to get used to .....one day I will find the time.

I use an Harte HA3500 350 watt amp, a Hartke 4 x 10" 400 watt cabinet and a Hartke 1 x 15" cabinet .

My introduction to the blues, although at the time I didn't know it was the blues, was through hearing early Rolling Stones albums on which they played mainly blues covers, next it was the Yardbirds, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton.

I found out where the blues originated during a television programme where the Rolling Stones introduced, and backed, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Howlin Wolf.

I found a record shop that had a blues section and purchased albums by Muddy, John Lee and the Wolf, plus Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, and so the floodgates opened on my music buying.

I just keep finding new and old blues to play, listen to and enjoy. The journey continues............
